Šiaulių Bankas is the bank with the biggest share of Lithuanian capital operating through 67 regional outlets all over Lithuania. The bank was founded in 1992. Šiaulių Bankas Group owns subsidiary companies engaged in leasing, life insurance and real estate areas.
The partnership of Šiaulių Bankas and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) started in 2000. In 2005 the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) owned by 67 states, European Union (EU) and European Investment Bank (EIB) became the major shareholder of Šiaulių Bankas. Currently, the EBRD owns 18.24 per cent of the Šiaulių Bankas' shares. Moreover, close cooperation and strong partnership relates Šiaulių Bankas with other international financial institutions such as European Investment Bank (EIB), Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), European Investment Fund (EIF) and etc.
The key area of the Bank’s activities is focused on lending to small and medium-sized business (SME). The Bank is granting credits to SMEs under the JEREMIE facility (risk sharing credits as well as credits with the portfolio guarantee), under innovative business facility InnovFin and etc. Šiaulių Bankas is actively participating in multi-apartment renovation projects, financing energy saving facilities in the country and, at the moment, is a renovation financing leader in Lithuania.
The shares of Šiaulių Bankas have been quoted on trading list of Nasdaq Vilnius since 1994 and included into the Main list at the end of 2006. In 2013 Šiaulių Bankas became the member of the Baltic market consisting of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian stock exchanges and Central Depositories.
Two solid international business and finance magazines positively evaluated successful recent year performance of Šiaulių Bankas - The Banker issued by an influential Great Britain's daily newspaper The Financial Times and international business and finance publication Global Finance. These publications recognized Šiaulių Bankas as the Best Bank in Lithuania in 2015 and 2016, whereas Global Finance also announced this in March 2017.
