Assets
The total assets of the group as of 30th June,
1997 were 6,656.5 million EEK, having increased by 2,182.1 EEK, i.e. 48.8% in
the first half-year. The share of the Bank's assets in the group was 95.4%, i.e.
6,353.4 million EEK which is 46.5% higher that the total assets of the Bank as
of the end of 1996.
Liquid assets
The share of liquid assets in the group's assets has increased to 18.5% by the
end of the half-year, having advanced by 4.7 percentage points in the period.
This was mainly effected by the increase in the receivables from and loans to
credit institutions 3.7 times, i.e. to 819.6 million EEK.
Shares and stocks
The group's share portfolio has grown by 79.3% from 139.2 million EEK at the end
of 1996 to 249.6 million EEK at the end of the first half-year of 1997. Shares
and stocks make up 3.7% of the group's assets.
Bonds
The bond portfolio has increased from 786.3 million EEK at the end of 1996 to
842.8 million EEK at the end of the first half-year of 1997, i.e. 7.2%. The share
of government bonds in the portfolio made up respectively 40.7% and 47.6%.
The share of bonds in the group's assets has dropped by 4.9 percentage points
to 12.7% during the period.
Loans against securities
The volume of loans against securities increased by 100.2 million EEK in the half-year,
totalling 374.8 million EEK. Compared to 274.6 million EEK at the end of 1996,
the said loans increased by 36.5%, although their share in the assets dropped
from 6.1% to 5.6% during the period.
Loans
The increase in the gross loan portfolio exceeded the increase in the balance
sheet volume by 3.1%, having grown from 2.199.3 million EEK at the end of 1996
to 3.338.6 million EEK, i.e. 51.8% by the end of June. Compared to the end of
the year, the share of loans in the group's assets increased by one percentage
point to the level of 50.2%. The share of doubtful loans, reflecting the quality
of the loan portfolio, has remained on the same level, making up 3.1% of the gross
loan portfolio. By the end of the first half-year of 1997, loans have been provisioned
in the total amount of 102.3 million EEK.
Long-term financial investments
The Bank's long-term financial investments increased from 54.4 million EEK at
the end of the year by 27.5% to 69.3 million EEK by the end of the first half-year
of 1997. 57.3 million EEK of these, i.e. 82.8% were formed by the shares of subsidiaries,
12.4% by the shares of associated companies and 4.8% by other financial investments.
Tangible fixed assets
The group's tangible fixed assets increased by 71.3 million EEK, i.e. 22.8% during
the first half-year of 1997, making up 5.8% of the group's assets. The Bank's
tangible fixed assets have increased by 12.8 million EEK in the same period, totalling
217.5 million EEK as of 30th June, 1997.
